I have beentrying for about a week not to install my Audiophile 192 Soundcard in my Windows XP system. It was installed mon my system before and I was using it fine. I recently reloaded my system and went to set it back up and I now get this message "The Data is Invalid"

Everything looks like it was going to install fine. It produced the Driver signing promts and I clicked yes thru them, but at the very end is states:

CANNOT INSTALL HARDWARE
There was a problem installing this hardware:

Multimedia Audio Controller

An error occured during the installation of the device
The data is invalid

It then loads the delta drivers as a Multimedia Audio Controller with a yellow Asterick in Device manager.

I researched this online for a while now, but could not find any information regarding this issue. This is on a brand new install of Windows XP SP1. I read where before going to SP3 the driver should be installed and working ok.

I also read this document on potential problems with protection problem in the Windows registry and can occur with a variety of drivers (sound cards and SCSI drivers have been reportedIs there anything I can do to make this work??? I tred the registry fix from:

http://www.techspot.com/vb/all/windows/t-1094-Installing-PCI-carddrivers-data-invalid-error.html

But it still didnt work

I need help bad!!

The error message "The Data is Invalid" is usually due to one of two reasons:

1. You have a FireWall/Anti-Virus/Spyware or System utility program running that is interfering with the download/installation of your device's driver. If this is the case, disable all programs of this nature and try re-downloading and re-installing the driver.

2. You have Windows system files having to do with driver installations that are missing or corrupted. For this try getting all the latest Windows updates as well as going to www.microsoft.com and searching for a file called "Windows Updater". Download this file, run it on your machine and try re-installing your M-Audio device's driver.

* Note that Service Pack 3 may be included with the latest Windows Updates, and since the Delta Drivers will not currently install under SP3, check the recommended updates to see if SP3 is listed before installing and uncheck if listed.
