Hi there.

Last night I was watching a video online, when all of a sudden mid-way through the video slowed down, along with the audio as if I was watching on a cassette player ..causing a never-ending whining noise (weird huh?)

..I closed Firefox, and thought nothing else of it..weary of doing anything else, I stared at the computer screen for a minute. As I finally got up the courage to move the mouse again, as soon as I did, the loudest, most crazy sound came out of my soundcard and finally my computer blue-screened.

I rebooted and when I started, only one of my soundcards was working (the Soundblaster Audigy 2) ..needless to say I can't run Pro Tools with a soundblaster, and I'm really worried my soundcard got fried. I've tried reinstalling the driver, but it gets to about 80% complete and then the installer tells me that it "failed" and that there could be something wrong with the installer.. Ugh. The control panel doesn't load, and nothing else seems to be working.

Has this happened to anyone else before? ..This may be a long shot but does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I mean none of the device drivers are listed in Device Manager.

I'm using Windows Vista 32-bit, I believe it's SP1 or something.. I don't think that has anything to do with it, but I'm starting to wonder if I should reformat my computer. I need the ability to run Pro Tools, my work depends on it. heh.

thank you for your time.

Shut down and remove the Delta card, then try to uninstall/reinstall the drivers. Once the drivers have been re-installed, shut down and re-install the PCI card.
