I use session software along with the micro USB device. When i first used the software i tried to get it to run direct with my Line 6 POD X3 via. it' own USB interface however i couldn't get this to work, without the Micro USB the program froze.

Is there anyway that i can record to session with my X3 via. it's own USB connection or do i have to use the micro USB?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

FJ

hi,

I own a PODXT live, and if you're X3 has the same architecture, there is actually no sound coming from the usb. The usb interface on the pod is used to control the unit and change patches through software like gearbox and line6 edit. To record you will want to take the outpout of your pod and patch it in the input of the micro-usb device. A 1/4 to 1/8 stereo cable from the phones out of your pod should do fine.

What you have desribed is what i do at the moment however on Reaper or Audacuty i can record direct via. the POD X3 USB interface, this gives the studio quality output.

So they changed their architecture at line6 then. I guess I'll have to upgrade ;)

How is that interface seen on the workstation ? Is it ASIO ?

sorry for the questions but I'm intrigued...

No worries about the questions, yes it's ASIO.

The X3 is the first line 6 product i've bought and it's fantastic. I've heard the XT is also great, i guess it's just progress & development that drive these things.

The main features seem to be the dual tone feature and the USB 2.0 direct recording. I've posted some basic tracks i've recorded on session with it over on the tracks & videos section of the forum. (Although because i'm new to the forum i think they're with the moderator at the moment)

Don't get me wrong, there have been 1 or 2 wee niggles with it but the guys at Line 6 seem to have sorted them out.

Cheers

I would check to see how to configure Sessions ASIO driver, I guess there is a menu where you select the interface. It probably froze because it was configured to use the micro usb by default and didn't "see" it when it was unplugged..

And yes, Line6 products are great too. I have owned my share of pods so far and use a Variax 700 frequently... ;)

Steven

The problem seems to be that the micro acts as a kind of hardware lock. I can change the ASIO settings to suit the POD X3 but then it freezes, it's as if the hardware lock has been removed.
