I keep hearing a background noise almost all the time I used the microphone and my headphones. However, sometimes the sound returns to be clear, but starts that annoying noise again:mad:. What is the problem? some help:(

<Moved to Session section>

Can you please describe the noise? Is it a high pitched sound? Is it a low frequency hum? Can you please provide more information about your system as requested in this thread (http://forums.m-audio.com/showthread.php?t=57).

Im getting the same problem. Its to the point that I cant even record 5 seconds of sound. The noise...atleast in my case is a loud crackling...sometime it even disrupts the beats I have on other lanes I guess you could say...that Im not recording on. Like ill hear it skip a beat..or play a double beat...and then its recorded along with my vocals. All the noise and crackling is also recorded.
And im not sure about the origonal poster but I cant even try recording on stereo setting. Where when you click add vocals and the new "lane" pops up and you can click to like add chorus effects and all...that there where you change from left right stereo...if I put it on stereo...I cant even start to record the noise is soo bad.
Im trying to record 3 different songs atm and this is not helping.

I tried adjusting the latency...moniter levels...everything...it only gets worse!!!

My setup right now is...
Dell xps 2.8 dual core
3g ram
Soundblaster xi fi
Nvidea 6800 graphics card
windows xp

Shadowian, Have you tried connecting the Producer USB to different USB ports? If the port you've been connected to is sharing an IRQ with another device such as your video card or Soundblaster it can cause these types of problems. You may also want to try disabling your Soundblaster card, Ethernet, modem, and Wireless controllers while recording with Session as these devices can interfere.

Well I normally have my usb mic plugged in front...and I know that you guys say dont do that...so I uninstalled the producer drivers...reinstalled...and then plugged into the back of the pc...and I didnt really get too much of that problem...it was tolerable atleast...like 15 to 20 seconds before the sounds. but my voice was horrible sounding when using that port. I thought something may have fried the mic...or installed wrong or something. In order to sound even close to my normal I had to do the vocals alot more quitely than I normally would...and at like 2 ft from the mic...lol. It just sounded that obsenely loud....lol

So I went back to the front...my voice sounds ok again...I just get the crackles and echos...I forgot that part last time...the echos....every...5 or so seconds...sux.

I do have a 500g external hard drive also plugged into the front end...why...dont know...just never changed it...would that do anything?

But for now ill try what you suggested...just sux cause while im recording and writing...im also keeping tabs on my myspace page...online stores...and myspace group...so to actually disconnect the internet would just hurt...lol

Ill keep that one as a last ditch effort...lmao

Thanx for the ideas and quick response!!

What driver mode and device do you have selected in Session's Audio Configuration? If the Producer is working best when connected to the front, try moving the hard drive to one of the rear USB ports. Have you tried disabling your built-in sound card? Before launching Session, try increasing the buffer/latency from the Producer USB control panel and see if that has any effect on performance.

I think I may be having the same problem described above. The annoying noise usually starts as a low pitched buzzing sound but then escalates into a high pitched pinging noise especially when the drums beat. I have tried plugging it into both the front and the back. Any tips?
