fast track pro and m powered

I use a Fast Track Pro which works fine on my laptop and pc with Samplitude Professional 9.
But with protools m powered 7.1. I can only work on 44,1 khz: the fast track pro control panel gives the message 'streaming at 44,1 khz'. Once I shut down pro tools, that message is gone and replaced with 'connected'.
Latest m audio drivers are installed.
Can someone enlighten me?

Go into the Windows Control Panel>Sounds & Audio Devices>Audio Tab and make sure that the Fast Track Pro is not selected as default device for Sound Playback (select your built-in sound card instead).
