I have just reformatted my computer. When I re-installed the Session software all hell broke loose.

First off, I can't get the ASIO drivers to load. When I open session it automatically goes to the Audio Hardware settings. Can't set it to ASIO, and when I set the WDM I get an error loop.

Couldn't open bitmap 'SmallFont'

Couldn't init fonts

Over and over... Same errors if I try to load a composition, it will then take a break from beeping and repeating the same font messages over and over to tell me there is an error with the Syntax.DLL file, then it repeats the font errors a few more times just in case I forgot in the last 3 seconds, then I get an

Error SETS-417

message that locks up session and will only go away if I CTRL-ALT-DEL and kill the process.

The disc is in flawless shape, has given me no trouble the only two other times it has been out of it's case when I did the original install and a re-install after a format.

This is annoying the hell out of me, because I can't even uninstall it. It starts giving me errors and refuses to delete most of the files, and it won't let me delete the files manually. Even after a reboot with session not having been loaded it says almost every file in the session folders are in use.

I didn't need to pay for software that doesn't work and that I can't get rid of, I could get any amount of viruses online for free that will do the same thing.

So, what gives?

I am running WIN XP PRO SP2 on a Gigabyte S Series MOBO with and NVIDIA GeForce 6100/nForce on board audio/video.

Been a few days, anyone from M-Audio read these?

Well, if anyone is home today, what do I have to do to get another copy of the session disc? Having this bloody keyboard sitting in front of me and being unable to play it is making me nutty.

I'm not familiar with these error messages; I'll have to check with somebody in the office tomorrow. What version of Session do you have? Is there a model or any other information for the on board sound card you are using?

I have the Session 1.6 installer DVD, and no real info on my onboard sound card outside of being an nForce.

Session has been installed and running on this system for 6 months with no problems, they didn't start up until the reformat/reinstall.

After the format/re-install, did you get all the updates and hotfixes for your motherboard?

I've found out that bitmap Small Font error is an installation error. Updating to Session 1.6.3 should resolve that issue:

The ASIO error is because your on-board sound card doesn't support ASIO. After updating to 1.6.3, see if you can select the WDM or MME driver for your built-in sound card.
