I have been using a 2496 for about 10 months now on Win Vista, but I recently installed XP on my machine, and reinstalled the PCI and the latest drivers for the card, however I am getting no input at all.

Not sure if I'm doing something stupid, but I'm using the same hardware as before, but when I go to the Delta Control Panel, and click on the Input tab the options are just 'grayed out' with no sliders or buttons...just the meter numbers in the middle (50 - 0).

In Windows Sounds & Audio Devices I have everything set to use the Delta 1/2 or Midi Devices

On the main 'mixer' tab the two input faders are there but the meters are not registering any input. I have tried mutilple leads and instruments, but I'm not getting anything registering on the input meters at all.

This was working fine for me before the weekend on Vista, is there something I have forgotten to do during installation/set-up?

I am running XP SP3, using the latest Delta drivers (and I have also tried uninstalling, re-inserting the PCI and reinstalling the hardware with no luck). I am able to play audio ok from ProTools or MP3's etc...I'm just not able to record anymore.

Hope someone can help!

Many thanks!

There are no controls on the input tab, just meters to monitor your input level. There isn't anything you need to do to enable the inputs; with the driver installed its ready to go. On the output tab, set the 1/2 out source to be "sw rtn", then connect the Delta's outputs to its inputs and play back audio to see if you get any levels registering on the input tab.

Do you still have Vista installed? Can you test the card on Vista to see if it will receive input there?

Hey JA. I've set the output source to 'sw rtn' but I'm not sure what you mean by 'connect the Delta's outputs to its inputs' - where/how do I do that?

I no longer have Vista installed, but I only put on XP on Sunday. Before that I was able to record fine. I just plugged in my mic or guitar and the meters flickered as you'd expect. At the moment I'm only getting playback from pre-recorded files, but no input is registered.

Thanks btw! :)

JA if you mean physically connect the output to the input, then I've done that and played back a file. I get the movement on the output meters, but nothing on the input meters.

Hi JA, should I try re-installing Vista? Ultimately I'd prefer to be using XP...but if I try on Vista again to ensure the card is still working, then it at least eliminates that fault.

A friend just mentioned to me that he had similar problems with the XP-SP3 drivers and had to roll back to SP2 and use the previous drivers from m-audio. Have you guys had other reports of this issue?

Have you tried different PCI slots yet?

I believe the previous driver (5057v3) may install on SP3; try that first. If not, removing SP3 and testing the previous driver on SP2 should be easier than formatting and re-installing Vista. I don't recall anyone reporting a problem with only input not working.

OK, tried a different slot, rolled back to the old drivers and then installed vista and the latest drivers...no luck with any scenario! :/

Also tried just putting a MP3 player straight into the input via different leads as well as instruments...no luck.

I can get audio out...just no audio in. Could the card be broken...or the break-out cable be broken? I've only had this item about 10 months...this is frustrating as I only just bought ProTools last week (reason why I did the clean OS install) after deciding to switch over from Sonar and I can't try it out! :/ lol

What should I try next? Thanks for your help btw...

Only the MIDI I/O and S/PDIF digital I/O is on the breakout cable. The analog inputs are on the PCI card, at the top, farthest from the breakout cable connector. Are you connecting to the analog inputs on the PCI card?

JA, I'd love to have some smart reply here to make it look like I'm not stupid...but yes, I've been trying to use the wrong input! lol *embarressed*

Sorry about that...I feel totally ridiculous!! You can close this thread now!

Thanks for your help! :)
