Probably a simple question, but I'm a bit new at recording (used to be an editor and everything there worked off mains!)

Is it likely that using Sony MDR 7506 headphones
(see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_MDR-V6)
with a Microtrack II will lead to fairly rapid drainage of the battery? This did seem to happen on my second session.

My son the Reggae DJ said something about the drivers in the phones being fairly hungry.

My apologies for such a basic question.

Different headphones will not have any effect on battery life. Making sure phantom power is off and setting a short time for the backlight will help with battery life. However, you can record with the MicroTrack connected to AC power so you don't have to worry about battery life while recording a DJ set.

I recorded an entire night of DJ sets (ten hours) using the AC adapter.

I wouldn't use mine any other way

I never knew you could record using the AC plug in!

I use these cans and have never noticed any inordinate battery draining with them.

It must be a quiet time around the world, folk looking for questions to answer!

Thanks to all, I'm using the Sony cans with no particular effect on the battery useage.

Mind you the supplied in-ear phones are handy for stealthy recording (no, not music piracy, but atmospheres where people may behave differently when they are aware that they are being recorded). The ubiquitous iPOd fashion is a blessing for
camouflaged reality recorders.

Best New Year to all: Ross
