View Full Version : Delta 66/XP SP-2 - I can only hear output from one speaker! RESOLVED

Here's my setup:

Windows XP SP-2 with all current updates
M-Audio Delta 66 + breakout box with latest drivers
M-Audio Ozone MIDI controller Keyboard
Core 2 Duo CPU/2gb RAM/300gb boot HDD/500gb spare HDD
Eurorack MX602 602A 4 channel Mixer
Sure SM-58 microphone

I have the Outputs 1 and 2 on the breakout box. I want output 1 to be Left Channel, and 2 to be Right Channel. They are connected (via 1/4" y adaptor) to my powered PC speakers. However, I can only hear audio out of the Left speaker! I know my speakers are good because I used to have the audio output coming from my PC's built in sound card.

I have gone to Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices and I have chosen M-Audio Delta 66 1/2 as the default audio device. I also went to the M-Audio Delta control panel application and WavOut 1/2 has both Solo boxes checked, as well as the Stereo link. Left channel slider is all the way to the left, Right channel slider is all the way to the right. Master volume also has Stereo Link checked.

What am I doing wrong?

Also, I have my mixer's Left and Right Main outputs going into the Delta 66 breakout box input 1 and 2 (Left for 1, Right for 2) and when I record, I can only hear the Left channel. I am assuming this has everything to do with the problem above.

What adapter are you using? It sounds like you have a mono adapter, not a stereo one which could explain why you're only hearing playback on 1 side.

Do you see both meters on Wave Out 1/2 and Master Out light up?

When recording from the mixer into the computer, do you see both channels for inputs 1 and 2 lighting up?

I figured out the problem. The Y-adaptor I was using (two 1/4" male to 1/4" female) didn't seem to be stereo, so I replaced it with a Y-adaptor stereo cable with stereo 1/8" male and two 1/4" male. Everything works good now.

And about the input only being heard on one channel, it's because I was using a mic on my mixer.
