Hi,

I've had this audio card for a few months now and I had no poblems with it, till I got a new computer. The old computer had an approx. 5 yr old MSI motherboard, the new one has a Asus P5K premium. So far, so good. Now to my problem. After the Audiophile driver installation, every move I make on the screen (moving the mouse around, opening programs, switching windows..) is audible through the monitors. It's a crackle sound with occasional spikes and pops.
I tried several things (SP2, SP3, different directx versions, graphics card drivers, motherboard drivers, delta drivers) and nothing helped. Through all that testing I discovered that if i run the default microsoft graphics driver, those crackles and pops completely dissapear.. so I thought to myself, this must be the graphics card. So I sold my nvidia (don't remember which) and got an ATI. Didn't help. So it's either the motherboard or the Audiophile 192.
Please help.. I don't want to sell my motherboard because i don't even get 50€ for it, since a new chipset is out.

Thanks!

Have you tried moving the 192 to different PCI slots?

Hi JA, thanks for your reply!

I can't switch them because the other 2 PCI slots are obstructed by capacitors as you can see on the image.

Any other suggestions (except buying a new motherboard) ;)

Are there any settings in the BIOS for the motherboard that would allow you to change the IRQ assignments for the PCI slots?

Unfortunately the BIOS doesn't have that setting.
What's going on? Is the graphics card interfering with the 192?

It definitely sounds like a conflict with the graphics card because you said using the Microsoft graphics driver cleared up the problem. Often times each PCI slot on the motherboard is assigned a different IRQ, so swapping slots often times clears up these types of problems. However, this is the first I've seen where there are components preventing the installation of a PCI card in certain slots. Do those caps stick up higher than the PCI slot? The 192 is a standard PCI card; there is a notch in the card that should allow for clearance of those caps. Have you tried installing the card in either of those slots? I can't imagine a motherboard designed with PCI slots that can't actually accommodate PCI cards.
