I just replaced my Soundblaster Live! 5.1 sound card with the AP192 only to discover that I can't convert my midi recordings to audio. I didn't have a problem with the Soundblaster at all but associates kept bugging me about getting a "better" sound card.
I haven't yet tried to run both cards together in order to perform the operation without having to increase the expense further for additional software. Can it be done?

Sounds like you have confused MIDI data and audio data. MIDI data is electronic notation and mechanical performance data. Audio data is data used to make sounds. Audio data used to make the speakers move to produce air waves of sound.
Audio = .WAV or .AIFF ( waveforms to make the speakers move )
MIDI = .MID ( only electronic notation, recording of button presses and keys pressed and sliders/faders moved and other types of automation curves )
MIDI hardware isn't converted to audio. This can be confusing depending upon what type of MIDI and or audio gear you are using.
MIDI data is used to trigger sound generators on playback.
The audio outputs of your MIDI software (VST instruments and DirectX instruments, etc. only) are at times rendered or frozen into audio data without even needing to use the soundcard.
The soundcard only comes into play during recording of audio data or MIDI data (thru the MIDI ports) or playback of audio data (which can be audible if connected to amped speakers ultimately). The soundcard transmits MIDI data out to other MIDI hardware. But MIDI data can't be heard. There is nothing to hear.
It's kinda subtle and confusing. But think of MIDI data as like a page of sheet music. It doesn't really get converted, it get's performed by some kind of sound generator in order to make audio. But MIDI data can be used to trigger light shows too. It's control data.
So something you are trying to do doesn't make sense.
Are you trying to use SoundBlaster soundfonts?

The Audiophile does not have an on board sound chip.
