is there a way of wiring the delta control panel so that i can say get a 2-track audio recorder to record anything that's going on in my computer? variety of uses for this including recording interviews on skype or anything that goes on in a browser etc.

i'm using the audiophile 24/96 on windows xp
while i'm here i should mention that i've had the same card for about 7-8 years now with like no problems that i know of. that's pretty impressive for what cost something like $100-200 when i bought it. back then there weren't many vst instruments to pick from, but without a card like this one you would have a hard time playing anything in real time.

You should be able to select Inputs 5/6 in your recording application to achieve this. 5/6 is the output of the Delta's Monitor Mixer. Make sure you have the appropriate channels turned up on the Monitor Mixer Tab of the Control Panel.

great thank you. i just tried it out and when i activated this channel in the DAW, it gave me a heavy feedback loop right off the bat. do you know how to stop that?

Mute the track in your recording software while recording so it doesn't feed back into the Delta's Monitor Mixer.

thank you, i got everything sorted on a basic level. very easy.

now i need a bit of help with camtasia. this is really confusing.

there are two types of screencasts i'm trying to do.

the first is: recording the line input on the audiophile(a preamplified mic), and then going around windows and using normal non-audio applictations. camtasia can use the monitor mixer input, but it won't let me hear the audio until after it's been recorded.

the second type of screencast is inside of a daw such as cubase. i have an audio track set up for my microphone, and then i have vsti's playing sound generated from cubase. it's really hard to explain the different settings and what's wrong, but on some settings i can get the microphone and vstis playing together, but the mic is doubled. other times i can get the mic sounding proper, but the keyboard sounds dont get recorded.

in camtasia there is the option for m-audio 1/2, as well as monitor mixer. and then there's additional settings for "play whatever comes out of the speaker".

so confused

ok i figured out the most common settings - you want to set the m-audio delta panel to monitor mixer output so you can hear everything. and camtasia's recording monitor mixer as well.

the only time this gets extra confusing is if you want to make a screencast about vocal effects in cubase, or anything to do with adding effects to the line-in on the daw. you will get a little flanging because you need your monitor activated in the daw, but you also need the monitor mixer activated in the delta panel if you want to hear what's being recorded in the screencast.

hi i'm back here. i can't seem to get the right formula for doing these screencasts.

sometimes i record and my voice is loud and kind of stereo - other times it's quiet and sitting on the left. it's only plugged into one channel.

i'm using the audiophile 24/96. i have a delta 1010/LT lying around here which i should get around to installing this week. but in the meantime i'd like to figure this out.

what are the best settings for recording a screencast with a microphone, and a DAW program playing at the same time?

i need to know the settings for windows audio, delta control panel, and camtasia

EDIT: A bit of googling around and i see why this is challenging - cause camtasia doesnt read asio drivers. i either need to find a new screencast program or do some really confusing stuff to get this working.

thanks
