Hello. I am wondering what advantages can be obtained by installing 2 Audiophile 2496's in the same computer (Gateway GT5622, 3MB RAM, 1.8 GHz dual core, 800MHz FSB with Windows Vista Home Premium)?

I have the 2 cards in two separate computers, but before I rip one out and fuss with installing into the computer, I wanted to know if it's worth it, and what would I possibly gain? I do have the PCI slots.

I mainly record VST instruments on my computer. I know I'd get an additional stereo analog input at least. Would the 2nd MIDI port work as well?

Is it worth it? What are the pros and cons of doing it?

Currently the Vista drivers do not support multi-card installation. Unfortunately I don't have an ETA as to when this functionality will be implemented.

Are you sure about that? I thought it was only the recent Vista drivers that were incompatible... I have installed the first XP/Vista driver set... would it work? I forget the exact version number but I know it's not the latest set.

There aren't any of the multi-card sync options in the new control panel; I don't know if you could still slave the second card to the first via the S/PDIF input; it hasn't been tested.

OK, thanks for your help. I think I'm going to do some research and experimentation. I have the feeling that something could work. I have to figure out which drivers I have downloaded. And which one I have installed. Then rip out my other card and put it in and see what happens. The fact that it hasn't been tested sounds almost like a challenge to me! :)

Thanks very much. That is interesting and useful. I'm liking my Audiophiles very much, so it would be great if I can get them working in tandem.

You'll need to sync the second card to the first using a 75ohm S/PDIF cable. In the Delta Control Panel, select the second Delta card and set its sync source to be the S/PDIF input.
