Ive recently had the annoying problem of crackles during recording with my 2496. It drove me mad i did everything such as replace cables, update drivers, move the card, record at lower volume, disable other devices but still had this random crackling sound when recording, i googled and saw "wireless" mentioned and then it clicked that i recently installed a TPlink wireless card so I removed it and the problem was history. I went back to using my usb wireless key without problems.
