Hi people!

Am I missing something or is there REALLY no way at all to record outgoing sound with the revo? (Huh, even my cheap-ass built-in-mobo integrated soundcard allows me to do that.)

I can perform tricks like installing TWO soundcards and having the headphones of the m-audio connected to the input of the other soundcard, etc., but that's very detrimental to sound quality and what's more, as you know there are audio streams that cannot be put in the headphones.

I also have multiple other problems, like when I want to record line-in I have to start recording (for instance in wavelab), then quickly go to the m-audio panel, switch to microphone input and then switching back to line-in input in order for Wavelab so 'see' the incoming audio stream. The Microphone input sliders I set on exactly 50%, but as soon as I change ANYTHING it resets the mic input levels to left 95% and right 60% or so, I need to change that every single time I want to record something. That's only two of the detail problems.

This makes on-the-fly audio recording (I record a lot of multi-voice vocals) a total bitch... :(

The Revo 5.1 looked great when I bought it, the audio playback is beautiful, but the functionality, drivers, configuration and support are utterly worthless.

Btw, I am running XP sp1 NL 32 bits, but I have the same kinds of problems on XP sp3 NL 32 bits. Only there are even more detail problems on XP.

Any answers for ANY of these issues? (Recording outgoing audio streams is most important.)

Regards,
Bouke

It is not possible to record what you hear with the Revo card. You can either use your built-in sound card to do this, or there are programs that allow you do to this (like Total Recorder).

What driver version are you running? I ran some tests with the 1.0 driver.

I don't have WaveLab to test with, but I tested with Audacity and Ableton Live (ASIO) and didn't have to switch to the mic input and back to get the line input stream recognized. There is a bug where input (line or mic) does not get to the application if the input levels sliders are up past the meter on the input tab.

What specifically are you changing after setting the mic input levels that causes them to change? I was able to adjust other levels without affecting the mic input level; switching the speaker set caused it to revert to the default levels which is the 2nd tick from the left.

I can recommend Replay AV 8 software for those wanting to record the sound output of the Revo 5.1.

It even works well under Vista & Windows 7.
