I have an older AGP Mac G4 with a 1.8gz processor upgrade and 2gb of ram, OS 10.4.11. I've had my Delta 66 for many years...bought around '02 I think....and it's worked fine for me with version 1.2.1 of the driver, although I haven't really asked much of it. I've only used it to get sounds into the Mac and not for multi-tracking or serious recording. Anyway, I got the bright idea to upgrade the driver, but every version I've tried after 1.2.1 causes a kernel panic upon opening the sound control panel after install. I have Cubase LE4 installed on the Mac as well and it appears that it will work with the version 1.2.1 driver, which I have re-installed so my Mac will run...but what is the deal with these newer drivers? Is my Mac too old? Is anyone else familiar with these issues? I've been searching for two days and can't find any info on these drivers for the Mac.

No help here?...looks like JA stopped at my thread...is it possible that I'm the only person to have this problem with the newer drivers?

Will an upgrade to 10.5 solve this?...(or make it worse)?

We aren't seeing problems like this here with the new drivers. Do you have a G5 1.8? Or do you have a G4 accelerator card? Did you uninstall the old drivers before installing the new ones? When you updated to 10.4.11, did you use Apple's Automatic Software Update or did you download and install the combo update from Apple's website?

First, thanks for trying to help...it's a G4 with a processor upgrade. I believe 1.2.1 was uninstalled when I installed the current driver. I used software update to get to 10.4.11.

I assume that doing an official uninstall of 1.2.1 and running the combo update are your suggestions. I'll give it a try...although, after reading here that deep sleep is no longer supported, I may just stay with the old driver. Am I missing out on anything if I stay with 1.2.1?

We don't support the use of our devices with accelerator cards; these problems may be attributed to that. In looking at the release notes for the newer drivers, there were some bug fixes and updates for Pro Tools compatibility, however, since the card is working with the 1.2.1 driver, I'd recommend sticking with it.

Ah, I guess I can understand that...can't support every machine out there. Just as an fyi, the newer drivers crashed my mac before I did the upgrade so it's probably something else, but I'll just stick with the old driver anyway...(cuz I'm tired of trying to troubleshoot this stuff)!

Thanks anyway.

I should add that I'm pretty impressed that a driver as old as 1.2.1 will work with Tiger! One of the good ones, I guess!
