I just replaced my often prefect sounding soundcard with a Delta 1010lt.
Gone are the pops and crackles that made me hate listening to music, but now with the 1010, I have very distorted bass.
The problem seems to come and go. Re-boots do not help.
I couldn't solve the problem in Bass Managment or anywhere else in the CP.
Please help me save this now non-returnable item.
Thanks,
Kevin

What kind of speakers are you listening through? Signal levels on Deltas and other pro/semi-pro audio products are a lot hotter than those of consumer sound cards or built-in audio. You might be overdriving the speaker inputs..... one way to check would be to lower the volume in the Delta control panel or in your music application (Windows Media Player for example) and see if the distortion goes away.

I'm running big Klipsch speakers through a PS Audio Amp. Nice wires and excellent/conditioned power. Above average stuff.
When playing CDs through my DVD player all is well. My SoundBlaster had perfect sound until the cracks and pops would overcome the system.
Along with the distorted bass, there seems to be some "skipping" also.
All music is MP3 high bit rate stuff.
Help.
Thanks
Kevin
Try moving the Delta card to a different PCI slot; if the current PCI slot is sharing an IRQ with another device such as your video card, it can cause problems like this.

I had this problem!
I'm running the output via QED Silver interconnects into a pair of HH monoblocks, and have Rogers LS4a monitors (it's an ex-BBC reference system).
The problem i found was the bass heavily distorting when using iTunes.
The remedy was turning the pre-amp slider down on the iTunes Eq section.
It was only iTunes that i had the problem with - now everything's fine.
