Help me with Windows mixer and AP192

I just bought an Audiophile 192 for my HP Pavilion 7865. The CPU is well faster that the fastest required for the operation of this sound card. I have Windows XP with Service Pack 2. I downloaded the latest drivers for AP192 for Windows XP with SP2. So it should work fully right? Wrong! I go to the Windows mixer and see ALL available audio output controls for this sound card. But when I go to the audio input section of the mixer there are NONE of the audio input controls for this soundcard. I have dissabled the sound card that came with the computer in the Device Manager so that the only sound card my computer would "see" would be the AP192. But still I can't get the audio inputs to show up in the Windows mixer. I ONLY have access to audio input controls in the M-Audio control panel. If you know how to get access to the audio input controls in the Windows mixer, I would be very happy. Any help in this effort would be very much appreciated.

When you say the "window's mixer", do you mean the audio tab in sounds and audio devices located within the control panel?
-When you make the AP 192 your sound card, the only mixer window you really need to deal with is the AP 192. That is where you would set your routing and where you would adjust levels and actually see signal.
-Also, which version of xp are you using? (Home, Professional, Media Center Edition)

I'm using Windows XP Home Edition. And the Windows mixer worked with my other sound card. The mixer had allowed me to change the audio output volumes (under playback settings in the mixer), and it allowed me to change the audio input sensitivities (under recording settings in the mixer). But with this new sound card (the AP 192), while the audio outputs have controls in the Windows mixer, the audio inputs do NOT have controls in the Windows mixer. How do I fix this?

Of course there is also a mixer control panel that comes with the AP192 drivers, but it doesn't allow me to adjust the sensitivities from the audio inputs either. It also only allows me to adjust the audio output volumes.

When you open the delta control panel, under the mixer tab you should see "1/2 In" you can adjust your incoming monitor mix (what you hear for monitoring), but not the input levels going into the computer. The input volumes located on the input selection on the audio tab within sounds and audio devices remains grayed out when using an external sound card. With a delta card there is no way to adjust the input levels without using a mixer. The idea is to run the sound (Mic, Guitar etc.) into an external mixer in order to be able to manually control level and then have a clean signal going into the card. You CAN adjust your levels in the software program, but at that point, the signal is already digital, so if you're coming in hot directly to the card, adjusting in the SW program won't help.

If I may add to this. I believe Ben may have the same question I would like to ask. There seems no way to record anything from the PC due to the fact there is no record availability to windows through the 192. I have a Magix Edit Pro 14 Plus which allows me to do a screen record including sound. However the program says there is a problem with my sound card. That is because windows does not allow me to set a record function. If anyone has a workaround please let me know... thanks

This is not possible with the Audiophile 192; you may try and set your recording device as your built-in sound card and see if you can do it that way. Otherwise you would need another program to record the computers output, (e.g. Total recorder (http://www.totalrecorder.com/))

Thanks for the response.
I appreciate that I could re-enable my onboard soundcard but in order to do that I must disable my Delta card.

I checked out Total Recorder and I will need to do some research on the different driver options the installation offers. It appears installing the application could create some problems with certain drivers on certain systems.

In the meantime I will continue the way I have been the last while. I have a second computer hooked up to my mixer. That way I can record from one PC to the other. It's sometimes a pain to have to copy files back & forth but at least it works.
