View Full Version : Microtrack II right gain and volume buttons buggered?

I recently purchased a Mircktrack II to allow me to record mixes straight from my DJ mixer (DJM800).
However when I connect it via the S/PDF the volume level of the recording is not loud enough and could do with being at least twice as loud. I have tried this with the Master output cranked right to the max and still the recorded file is too quite.

The other problem I have is that the right gain and volume buttons do not work AT ALL! This is more than frustrating as when connected to the ‘record’ RCA output on the mixer the gains are always slightly out and need to be individually adjusted. Only being able to adjust the volume on the left input on the Microtrack isn’t good enough as this means I’m having to reduce the overall volume in order to line up the two levels as I cannot increase the right level to match the left.

I have tried ever option possible and even used the old firmware as well as the latest but still no resolution the problem.
If I have a faulty unit who do I contact to get this fixed within the UK? At £180 I am slightly p8ssed to say the least.

Thanks

Deano

There is no level control when recording with the S/PDIF input; it records at the level your device is outputting; you would need to adjust the level at the source.

In order to control the right input gain separately, the link L+R Gain Record Setting should be off. Either way, the button should function. If it doesn't, you have defective hardware. You should contact your dealer for repair/exchange.

I have tried adjusting the volume when using both S/PDIF and RCA inputs to no avail. The volume button does not work even when playing back the recording. I have also attempted to adjust the right gain with the L+R record setting turned off. I presume from this that I have a defective unit.
Could you please advise me on how to get this sorted? I like in the UK and do not know were my local dealer is.

Many thanks

Carl

You can contact the UK Support Office: +44 (0)1753 658630, or online at http://www.maudio.co.uk/index.php?do=support.contact_form; however, I believe in the UK you would contact the dealer where you purchased the device for repairs.

After being passed from tech support to UK repairs who then passed me back to tech support to obtain a repairs number I have finally been fobbed off and told that "M-Audio do not deal with anyone other than retailers with regards to repairs" and that I need to "return the device to the retailer in America who will then do with it what the will". In other words I need to send my device half way across the globe to the retailer whom should then pass it on to M-Audio somewhere in Aerica I presume, who'll then pass it back to the retailer some months (hopefully repaired) who will then pass it back to me in the UK?! I find extremely frustrating as it would involve months of waiting and chasing up from my part and lots of shipping and labour costs on M-Audio's and the retails part.

Why, as the repair guy in the UK said, can I not send it directly to him, with a repair/returns number and have it repaired/replaced quickly and easily in the UK? It's quite clear that M-Audio have the capacity to do so but refuse to be of any assistance to me, the measly end user who paid £180 for a defected unit, dealing only with the retailer!
I really hope someone from M-Audio reads this and takes action on it but I doubt it as from what I can see they don't care about their customers but would rather concentrate on charging over the odds for a cheap, plastic and more importantly UNUSABLE product.

Rant over! 

Did you order it online and have it shipped overseas? Who is the dealer?
