M powered or Pro Tools LE

I have a dual core quad PC computer with 2 meg of ram. I am using a delta 66 card with omni studio. I am running vista Ultra.


Does it matter if I purchase Pro- tools LE or M-powered 7.4 ? What difference will there be when using either of these programs with this setup?

Will the software/hardware care if I have Vista Ultra or vista ultra with SP1?

LE is for Digidesign hardware and M-Powered is for M-Audio hardware such as yours.

Does that mean that choosing delta 66 and therefore M Powered Pro - tools locks me in to only purchasing M-audio products in the future? ( No mix and match hardware permitted?)

That is correct, to the best of my knowledge. Although if you're concerned about expanding to more inputs and outputs, it is possible to get up to 16 using M-Powered even though M-Audio and Digidesign swear it doesn't work. See this thread for details: http://forums.m-audio.com/showthread.php?t=139
