Hi,

I went through the process outlined in the quickstart guides for installing my new Audiophile 192 PCI board. After installing the drivers and attaching the card (while pc is off) I get the detected new hardware wizard as per the instructions except that instead of displaying:

"M-Audio Delta" it displays the generic name "Multimedia Audio Controller"

It then fails to find an appropriate driver, I've tried manually selected the M-Audio 192 card through the option 'Don't search, I will choose a driver to install' but when I do that the device lists an error code 10 unable to start in the device manager.

I have tried using both the drivers on the CD, the ones on the website for WindowsXP SP2 and even in desperation the SP3 ones but nothing has worked.

I have tried switching which PCI port its plugged into and also disabling 'Assign an IRQ to Video Card' option (since I read about some conflict of IRQ ports?)

When I run 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSInfo\msinfo32.exe' to check for IRQ conflicts everything is marked ok:

Can you try disabling your on-board sound card and Ethernet controller and see if the computer can identify the card as an M-Audio Delta? Have you tried all PCI slots?

If the computer is only identifying the card as Multimedia Audio Controller, it could be a problem with the Delta card. Can you try installing the card in a different computer?

I tried disabling the onboard ethernet and sound card neither of which changed anything.

When I put the card into my ubuntu machine (PC2) I was able to detect it as an ICE1724 card through ALSA. I wasn't able to get it to record anything though, but I'm very new to linux and cant get many things to work under it.

I then reformatted my ubuntu machine (PC2) and installed windows xp pro onto it, I get the same message as on my primary machine (PC1) as I outlined above. That makes me think its the card either that or the motherboards are too similar (both were relatively cheap, have only 2 PCI ports and report using the Pheonix - Award BIOS v 6 when I run dxdiag)

How long have you had the card? Can you exchange with the retailer or have them test in one of their computers?

Hello,

I have exactly the same problem.
"Code 10" in device manager.

I've tried everything (re-install, other motherboard, new drivers, etc).

I would like to know what I can do to fix this problem.

What OS and driver version are you running? Is the system identifying the card as M-Audio Delta or Multimedia audio controller? Does "other motherboard" mean a different computer? Have you tried different slots on the mother board?

Which Delta card do you have? How long have you had it? Was it working previously?

Peter

OS is Vista (without SP1)
Driver version is Delta_V32_5.10.00.5069v3
First was my system identifying the soundcard as Multimedia audio controller.
After manual installation of de drivers, my system says "M-audio Delta Audiophile".
Other motherboard is not another computer. Only the motherboard has changed because I thought that it was a compatibility problem between soundcard and bios or something like that.
I've tried both slots (after removing the card I've removed the driver, restarted the computer and re-installed the driver).
My card is a Audiophile 2496.
The card I aproximately 2 years old.
It was working OK with in another machine (with Windows XP).

JA

If it was working in another machine, it sounds like an issue or conflict with the new one. Do you have all the BIOS and chipset updates for the motherboard? Can you check to see what IRQ the Delta card is assigned by going to Start>Run>msinfo32>hardware resources>IRQ's; are any other devices assigned the same IRQ #? Can you try disabling your built-in sound card and Ethernet/Wireless controllers to see if the drivers will successfully load/start?

Peter
08-18-2008, 02:04 PM
I think I've installed all BIOS and chipset updates.
Built in card is disabled and I've also tried to disable ethernetcontroller.
There is no IRQ assigned. Is this the problem?
Msinfo32 gives the following information (sorry, it's dutch)

I ran into the same problem, except it was on the same machine. After I installed my geforce 260 gtx video card the sound ceased to work. It only came up as a multimedia audio controller and it cannot find the drivers. I have done everything I can think of, using different PCI slots, installing different drivers, giving it its own IRQ below 16, and finally turned to tech support awaiting a reply. Nothing I can think of works I would really like to know how to fix this.

Hello JA,

Have you another idea what I can do to fix my problem?

When you say you manually installed the drivers, did you manually update the "Multimedia Audio Controller" drivers and select the Delta Drivers?

Are there just the 2 PCI slots? Do you have any other PCI cards installed? Do any other devices appear in the device manager with yellow question marks or exclamation points? Can you also try disabling the wireless controller (Realtek 802.11), and any virus protection/firewall software that may be enabled and see if it will properly recognize the device and install the drivers?

Peter
08-30-2008, 03:17 PM
Indeed; I manually installed the drivers as you described.

There are no other exclamation points. Only M-audio Delta audiophile has an exclamation point.
Today, I removed the other pci-card (wireless controller) and disabled the onboard networkcard.
Result: nothing.

I also have updated the drivers of the motherboard (NVIDIA nForce 630i) and the bios (ASUS P5N-EM HDMI ACPI BIOS Revision 0305).

What's the next step?

For what it's worth I am having the same problem with a Delta 192 except that I've had it up and running without any trouble for a year or so. Could this be something to do with a Windows update?

Peter

Hello JA,

I really don't know how to fix my problem.
Is there a solution?

JA
09-09-2008, 11:12 AM
Peter, do you have access to the machine in which the Delta card was previously working to see if the problem may be the card? The manual installation will not work, the system has to identify it as the M-Audio Delta on its own.

Peter
09-11-2008, 12:53 PM
No, it was the same computer, but wilth another motherboard and OS was XP. Now I've Vista installed.

Any other idea?

The driver is installed, but the card is not "starting".
Is it possible that my soundcard is not able to get an IRQ?

JA
09-12-2008, 10:58 AM
If the card was working with the previous motherboard, and not the new motherboard, it sounds like there is a conflict/incompatibility with this new motherboard. What is the new motherboard?

Are there any local dealers that can test the card for you in another computer system (or possibly a friend or neighbors computer)? This can determine if the problem is the Delta card, or with the motherboard.

Peter
09-14-2008, 10:58 AM
I've tried the soundcard with two motherboards. But the card doesn't work.
At this moment I have a ASUS P5N-EM HDMI.

The soundcard works good in a XP-machine.
It is not possible for me to test the soundcard in another Vista-computer

With Windows XP it worked perfect.
Now with Windows Vista home 32 bit the soundcard doesn't start.
It seems to be an incompatibility between Vista and the soundcard-driver.

The soundcard works good in another PC.
The soundcard works not with another motherboard (same Vista-installation).

SIW says about the soundcard:

When you switch motherboards, you should re-install Vista. I think simply swapping motherboards and using the same OS installation could cause problems. The Vista drivers work. I've tested them myself on multiple Vista Systems, and we know your card works because it still works on the XP system.

Do you by chance have iTunes installed? It sounds crazy, but another user reported a code 10 error with a USB sound card and he worked around it by uninstalling iTunes.

Thank you for your answer.
Today I reinstalled Vista to eliminate all Vista issues. After installation of Vista, I first installed the m-audio drivers.
But .... no result! Hardware manager still says "Code 10 unable to start device".
I-tunes is not installed.

What else can I do ?!

Code 10 unable to start device
I have 2 delta 1010LTs (rev b and rev c boards)
My MSI motherboard died (blank screen)
I have just installed XP Home SP2 on an ASUS p4c800 deluxe motherboard
Everything else is working but i cannot get the 1010LTs to install

Do you think they are both dead?
I have read this thread and all the symptoms are the same for me
Fresh XP install and windows is telling me it cannot tell if the 1010LTs are compatible with my hardware !

Code 10 Device cannot start . . .
Is this what happens when these cards go south?

H E L P before i go out and buy something from the competitors !

Peter; a guy here in the department has the same motherboard (ASUS P5N-EM HDMI) and regularly uses his Delta 66 on XP & Vista. The card should be working and I don't know why it's not. Try going into msconfig and disabling all startup items, and on the services tab, click to hide all Microsoft Services, and disable the rest. Then test the card in different PCI slots.

catswingsteve, How did the motherboard die? Did you have any other PCI cards installed on that motherboard? If so, do those devices still work? Can you test the 1010lt's on another computer? This could help determine if the cards are bad. Have you tried different PCI slots? Have you checked for chipset/bios updates for your motherboard?

It the cards are faulty, you can return them for repair. There is a 1 year warranty on the cards.

Hi JA, I dont know how the old MSI 6788 mobo died for sure but it could have been a power supply/brown-out ? Maybe something got past Norton and the Firewall ? The cursor froze/PC locked up - pressed power switch to reboot - Blank screen.
I am not connecting this Asus new build to the internet and I have upgraded from 420 to a 650watt to eliminate that possibility. I only had 2 1010LTs (that's all i will ever be using) I tried the cards on a brand new mobo/cpu bundle (using the 650watt power supply) and i got the same messages after installing XP.
I have the latest bios installed (ooer it is a beta but its a couple of years old) and have tried the recommended (unshared) PCI slots as well as the ones that are shared by SATA (with and without SATA drives connected)
I tried one card in another PC thats knocking around - same message.
It's hard to believe that whatever killed the mobo, killed the PCI cards but not an AGP graphics card that was fitted (AGP card is now working on my current Asus mobo)
I have ordered a brand new 1010LT from Soundware in Newcastle (should be here saturday morning) If that card is OK then i will want to get the other 2 looked at (they are out of guarantee)
Hopefully i will end up with a 24 track recording system with all 3 cards - economics permitting !

Thanks

I got a brand new in an unopened box Delta 1010LT and managed to install it (despite the instructions in the manual being woefully incorrect)
Hey presto - It works
So at this moment i believe my 2 old Delta 1010LT's to be K.I.A.
The cards have what looks like a removeable EPROM on them.
I am hoping that re-flashing that device will revive them.
I am waiting to hear from M-Audio Support now

I will probably never know what killed my old motherboard but whatever it was it is looking as if it took out my 2 soundcards too

This device cannot start (Code 10) might not be final

Hello Y'all.
I've encountered the same problem. same effect and same cause.
after replacing a motherboard and reinstalling XP.
I did try to install the card on a different PC and it didn't work.
Isn't it strange that we all have this problem in two three months ? this card is out for so many years, and the first time this happened is july ?
If you have any ideas please share them. nothing I tried worked. and I don't want to buy a new card.
thanks,
nimrod.

Give M-Audio UK Support a call
They will probably repair it free of charge
That is what they told me so i sent my 2 faulty cards back last week

The brand new card i just managed to install is now giving me cause for concern - If i remove the card from my PC everything is fine but as soon as i fit it (without even installing the drivers) i can hear like a mains hum and moving the mouse or hard drive activity modulates the noise. In my sequencer i can see the noise at -75Db and moving the mouse makes it quieter by about 6 to 10Db !
I have used 2 delta 1010LTs for well over a year with no problems and certainly nothing like this mouse noise before.

My Delta 1010LT is long past it's warranty, bought it 3 years ago.
and I'm kinda sure it has something to do with the new motherboard, graphic card...
it doesn't make any sense that it will stop working like that.
hope someone will come up with a solution.
thanks,
nimrod.

Hey folks!

I'm having the same problem with my Delta AP192 on XP.

I have tried latest drivers, reseating card in another pci slot, deleting all traces of previous drivers and files, On-board sound is disabled etc etc etc :D

I've been at this a long time and the only thing i can think of is this.....

Below is the hardware id's for each of the delta cards for XP32bit

;;================= XP 32 bit =================

[M-Audio.NTX86]
%DELTA1010.DeviceDesc% = DELTAII,PCI\VEN_1412&DEV_1712&SUBSYS_D6301412
%DELTADIO.DeviceDesc% = DELTAII,PCI\VEN_1412&DEV_1712&SUBSYS_D6311412
%DELTA66.DeviceDesc% = DELTAII,PCI\VEN_1412&DEV_1712&SUBSYS_D6321412
%DELTA44.DeviceDesc% = DELTAII,PCI\VEN_1412&DEV_1712&SUBSYS_D6331412
%DELTAAP.DeviceDesc% = DELTAII,PCI\VEN_1412&DEV_1712&SUBSYS_D6341412
%DELTATDIF.DeviceDesc% = DELTAII,PCI\VEN_1412&DEV_1712&SUBSYS_D6351412
%DELTARBUS.DeviceDesc% = DELTAII,PCI\VEN_1412&DEV_1712&SUBSYS_D6371412
%DELTA410.DeviceDesc% = DELTAII,PCI\VEN_1412&DEV_1712&SUBSYS_D6381412
%DELTA1010LT.DeviceDesc%= DELTAII,PCI\VEN_1412&DEV_1712&SUBSYS_D63B1412
%DELTAAP192.DeviceDesc% = DELTAII,PCI\VEN_1412&DEV_1724&SUBSYS_36321412

My card highlited in red. Notice the SUBSYS_36321412 which i presume is the actual Audiophile 192 ID

But when i go into the "Device Manager/AP192's Properties/Details" I get

Device Instance ID -

PCI\VEN_1412&DEV_1724&SUBSYS_A000A012&REV_01\4&5855BE9&0&10F0

Hardware ID's

PCI\VEN_1412&DEV_1724&SUBSYS_A000A012&REV_01
PCI\VEN_1412&DEV_1724&SUBSYS_A000A012
PCI\VEN_1412&DEV_1724&CC_040100
PCI\VEN_1412&DEV_1724&CC_0401

Compatible ID's

PCI\VEN_1412&DEV_1724&REV_01
PCI\VEN_1412&DEV_1724
PCI\VEN_1412&CC_040100
PCI\VEN_1412&CC_0401
PCI\VEN_1412
PCI\CC_040100
PCI\CC_0401

No SUBSYS_36321412 in sight.

Google doesn't find any hits for SUBSYS_A000A012 either. Strange for a hardware ID not to return a single result

Ok so is this why the driver wont install or am i way off the mark with this one? has the hardware ID of the device somehow been corrupted? Is there any way to fix it?

It would also be interesting to see if anyone else has differences in the ID of thier card to those the driver will
install for.

alanbyrne, The hardware ID returned from your 192 is not a valid ID. Either the EEPROM (firmware) in the 192 is damaged, or your motherboard isn't properly communicating with the 192. Can you test the 192 in a different system?

How long have you owned the card? Was it working previously on this system or on another?

JA

I haven't really got access to another PC, just a laptop. The card was working for a short while which leads me to believe the motherboard is compatible/working ok.

The killer is i bought the card last year 22/10/07 approx. :(

What do you suggest?

If you can't test it in another system I'd suggest contacting tech support and arrange to send it in for testing/repair.

Hi, I also have issues with code 10, my system is ASUS Crosshair motherboard with NVidia 8800 gts.

Update: in my case - this is a eeprom problem, after flashing eeprom all work.

Hi guys

Iv recently had to wipe my computer due to a bad virus and after re-installing everythin my Audiophile 2496 sound card will not work. I spent all day and night trying to sort this but it keeps throwing up Code 10 error. After giving up on it i turned my computer off and went to bed. Next morning turned my computer on and for some wierd reason it was working?? After then turning my computer off again and the next day going back onto my computer it had lost the sound card and now im back with the same problem.

I have done the Run>msinfo32 and searched for my m-audio sound card and it has shown up like this
