Computer - 3.2 Ghz / 1 GB Ram / XP Service Pack 2
DAW - Cakewalk 7 Producer
Using all 4 inputs on breakout box / using out 1/2 to listen to mix

This may be simple (I tried doing a search but didn't find this). I can record fine from all 4 inputs. However I can't quite figure out how to listen/monitor while I'm recording. I'm fairly sure I have all my settings checked properly. I have drum, guitar and bass tracks laid down. I'm trying to do vocals but I can't hear myself in relation to the laid down tracks.

Is there a trick to monitoring what I am recording? I have tried to plug into out 1 2 3 4 but there is no sound coming out of any of them as I record.

Did I miss something simple? Is it a setting in the DAW? I think I have gone through all the audio settings in it but I may have missed one. I just started using Cakewalk 7 Producer and it may be something on that end (I am a longtime Cakewalk user and recently upgraded).

The Delta 44 I bought this past December. I just started the new Cakewalk earlier this month.

You can use the Delta's Monitor Mixer (in the Delta Control Panel) to directly monitor your inputs with no latency or delay. On the Patchbay/Router tab, set the output source for outputs 1/2 to be the Monitor Mixer. Then, on the Monitor Mixer tab, turn up the levels for the various inputs. Since the inputs are mono, you'll want to center the pan sliders so you can directly monitor the inputs through both speakers.

Cakewalk should also have some sort of input monitoring option you can enable. You would need to use this if you want to monitor with any effects in Sonar, however, this may result in latency/delay because the signal has to go into the computer, be processed, and then sent back out. You can lower the latency/delay by lowering the buffer size; and you'd want to mute the tracks in the monitor mixer to prevent the track from being doubled.
