Hi,

I have a Delta 2496 which I currently have connected to a standard hi-fi amp. I'm using headphones connected to the amp for mixing/mastering ( I know it's not the best way)

The problem I'm having is that there is a lot of hiss from the amp which is distracting and also makes hearing some sounds difficult at lower volumes. I think a dedicated headphone amp would be better. I don't want to spend a fortune and I only need one set of phones output.

The following item looks like it should be good:

would this work with the Delta 2496? I realise that I will have to get a lead to convert the Delta output phono jacks to the XLR input connectors on the amp. Would there be any hiss using such an amp, and would the quality be good considering it's quite cheap.

Thanks :)

That device looks like it'll work for what you need. I've never used it so I don't know about this hiss. It looks like that retailer gives you a week to try the product out so if it does have too much hiss you should be able to get a refund and try something else.

Also, the XLR input is for a microphone, you'll want to get an RCA to 1/4" cable to plug into the 1/4" monitor input; something like this:
