HE I AM NEW TO THIS FORUM.
i installed the 24/96 into a new DAW that i recently got.

Unfortunately the DAW had an integrated sound card, but i disabled it in device manager/sound controllers and in the BIOS, so that should not be an issue.

i could not use the DELTA cd BECAUSE IT IS FOR xXP AND THIS MACHINE HAS a vista 64 BIT OS

I DOWNLOADEd THE BETA VISTA 64 BIT DRIVER from here and installed it.
everything seems to be configured and the driver is working properly.

i don't have any fancy S/PIDF or MIDI cable issues, no audio interfaces or guitar to plug in; i am totally software
based

all i need to do is connect my 1/8 speaker cable to the analog jack.

BUT the 1/8 won't fit into the analog jacKS on the 2496 BeACUSE THEY ALL ARE female RCA.

i WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT.
i think my audio is fine. when i enable the other sound card, the audio works. .

so,assuming my configurations and driver are in seemingly good working order for the 2496

it is just the plug.

so then, a trip to radio shack,

and is it just a matter of getting a 1/8 adapter to a (i am presuming) RCA MALE?)

MY I/8 SPEAKER CABLE GOES INTO THE 1/8 ADAPTeR AND THEn THE RCA MALE PLUG ON THE ADAPTeR GOES INTO THE female RC ANALOG JACK on the 2496.

is that the gist of it or am i missing something? thanks

You've got it; you just need the 1/8" (F) stereo to dual RCA (M) adapter to connect your speakers to the Audiophile's outputs. Something like this:
