Hi folks,
This is driving me nuts. I have successfully used delta ctl panel in the past for volume control. Now I can't and I can't figure out why. I have tried uninstalling the card and uninstalling and updating to latest drivers, then re-installing card. Everything appears okay, but I can only get sound out of WavOut 1/2 -- selecting Monitor Mixer in PB/Router kills all sound although I can still see levels in WO 1/2. Nothing in Master Volume. Also when WO 1/2 is selected in PB/Router the faders in Monitor Mixer for WO 1/2 have no effect. What the heck is going on?
Thanks in advance,
Steve
With Monitor Mixer selected for for outputs 1/2 on the patchbay/router tab, you need to make sure that the volume sliders for Wave Out 1/2 are turned up, and make sure that none of the solo's or mute's are enabled. Can you post a screen shot of your monitor mixer?
If you select Wave Out 1/2 on the patchbay router, the signal goes directly from the program to the Delta's outputs, bypassing the monitor mixer; this is why the mixer has no effect.

Hi JA--
I can post a screenshot when I get home, but first let me be clear about what I am seeing.
Regardless of the selected setting in PB/R tab (that is, WO 1/2 or MM) I see levels only on the WO 1/2 meter (no master volume). The WO 1/2 faders have no effect on volume; the same is true for the solos or mutes. Volume is only affected by changing the Wave volume control in Control Panel-Sounds and Audio Devices-Audio-Volume-Wave. By changing that level, I hear volume changes and see the meter levels change for WO 1/2. This is with WO 1/2 selected in PB/R. If I select MM in PB/R, the levels still stay the same (that is, output on WO 1/2, nothing on master volume) but I get no output at the RCAs. It's as though nothing is going to the onboard mixer.
I am running Win XP Sp2 with latest drivers, and I have disabled onboard audio. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Steve
What application are you using to play audio? Are any boxes checked on the Monitor Mixer?

I have the same issue. I'm trying to record from cassette for the first time with this card, the Audiophile 2496. I've tried with four different common recording softwares and can't use the soundcards control panel to set the recording levels. I've selected Monitor Mixer (MM) under patchbay/router, as well as many other settings that don't make sense, but no levels show on the MM and I cannot alter the recording levels for the cassette transfer.
FYI: I've reinstalled the M-Audio software and updated with the latest drivers and rebooted and nothing changed. The purpose of acquiring this card was to make high resolution analog transfers to my HD, but if I can't adjust the recording levels then I'm stuck.

Why are you not setting level in the audio software? The monitor mixer is not going to affect the recoded level of audio. Are you not getting an input? EXACTLY what audio software are you trying to use?
