Dear Everyone.
Hardware - Asus Asrock motherboard, M-Audio Audiophile 2496 soundcard, 1gig Ram, WinXP Pro SP2.
I'm mildly disabled, so I find using a notation program - Voyetra Music Maestro's mine - is far easier than using a synth keyboard. I'm gonna be starting a Cubase course in a week, but the instructor's asked us to bring in a couple of MP3s of stuff we've written. For various reasons that don't fit this question, I've never managed to get the hang of sample-based programs like Kontakt so I've used my notation package to write a couple of pieces using Windows GM sounds.
And I can't make the M-Audio 2496 record them as a soundfile! I've tried several programs, including NCH Wavepad, Windows Movie Maker and MP3myMP3, all of them claim they can record what you hear, all I ever get from any of them is blank files.
If it's any help, in Start/All Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/Volume Control/Options/Properties, there's NOTHING in the white control window for recording. Playback, yes. Recording, no!
How do you record GM sounds with an M-Audio Audiophile 2496? My old Soundblaster Live 5.1 had a 'What you Hear' setting, but I've been told that only non-professional cards have that setting, it doesn't apply to these ones. What's the equivalent setting/settings on the M-Audio?
Got to take these in in a week and, to be honest, I thought the recording bit would be the easiest!
Yours hopefully
