I'm slowly getting into recording. Mainly for band demos, and some rap beats for some people I know.

I got an old dell PC pentium 3 desktop with a stock sound card. Currently I use Sonar Home Studio 4, with the m-audio fast track to record. I'm looking at either the Delta 44 or Delta 66 but can't really tell the difference between the 2, except the price and the S/PDIF thing a ma jig??? Which I can't really find anything online to tell what exactly that function is for?

I know both units essentially have 4 in's and will replace my current sound card, which is all I'm concerned about. I'll be mainly recording with the Roland V-Drums, Pod X3 Live Guitar Pedal, Mixer with pre-amp for vox, and Korg Electribe Sampler/Drum Machine. 4 in's is plenty for what I'll be doing.

So, basically I'm just wanting to know if I'll be good with the Delta 44, or if the Delta 66 is light years above the 44 and worth the extra bucks.

Thanks.

Sonny

The only difference is that the Delta 66 has S/PDIF I/O. S/PDIF is a 2 channel digital interface; in order to use it you would need a device with a coaxial S/PDIF output.

If you aren't planning on use the S/PDIF I/O; and don't plan on sync'ing multiple Delta cards for additional I/O, you'll be fine with the Delta 44.
