Make/Model: Gateway MX6710 laptop
Operating System: XP SP2
Processor: T2300 Dual Core
RAM: 2GB
Video Card: ATX X1400
M-Audio Devices & Driver Versions: Fast Track USB/Driver 5.10.00.5114.v4

I just upgraded from 1.0.1 to 1.6.3 since I was having problems with a static/distortion sound during playback with Session, and Session would frequently crash. The upgrade was successful, but upon opening the composition, I still have the static/distortion. It gets worse as the track plays, and eventually the tempo starts to drag as well. This sounds like some sort of buffering issue, but I'm not sure where to start looking. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know.

Thanks in advance

Are you using the M-Audio USB ASIO driver in Session? What is the buffer in the Fast Track Pro Control Panel set to? If you raise it does performance improve?

I would also suggest testing the Fast Track on different USB ports. If they port you are connected to is sharing an IRQ with your video card, it can interfere and cause problems with distortion and audio dropouts.

I tried switching USB ports, but that didn't change anything.

To get to the point I'm at now, I had to re-install 1.0.1 and upgrade again, and now I no longer have the Fast Track Pro Control Panel icon on my toolbar (I don't have speaker icon either). How can I add the Fast Track Pro Control Panel back to my toolbar?

Thanks in advance

Does the Fast Track USB icon still appear in the Windows Control Panel? If so, you can right-click and choose "create shortcut" and you can place that on the desktop.

Nope - it wasn't on the Windows Control Panel either.

I ended up doing a System Restore from a week ago to get me back to 1.0.1 and then upgraded to 1.5.0 and then 1.6.3, and now everything seems to be back and functioning. I then changed the latency value, and the static is gone.

Thanks

Awesome! Glad to hear it's working!
