thanks to all for the reference material, first and foremost.
I saw the post regarding the Delta 1010 PCI card being 3.3v. As I am ready to upgrade to a descent PC, I'm having a little trouble understanding what I should be asking for when I talk to the manufacturer about my PC build.
I obvisouly need a free standard (not X or express) PCI slot, but the 3.3v acceptance with the "notch" thing really confuses me.
Should the slot be notched at both ends to accomodate the M-audio card? Also, would it be wise to measure the length on the metal portion of the card with the mounting slots on the PC chassis?? Logic says yes...
I just bought the 1010 a month ago, it's in superb shape and am building on a budget. I've learned that my PC isn't going to hang as I'm getting the good'ol crackle/pop out of the speakers. Have adjusted buffers in Sonar and card, running at 44.1, card is recognized on Sonar 7PE, internal card disabled...not much else I can do.
Have a (Dell Optiplex) Pent 1.4 with only 512mb RAM and a 20g harddrive...shoulda known.
Will be going to a AMD 64 / 3MB L2 / 3GB RAM w/ a 500g harddrive...that should be enough. But will it play well with the Delta???
Thoughts, suggestions??? I did a ton of research on the PCI interfaces out there, and the Delta was tops across the board...hate to think I can't use it.
thanks in advance.
