Hi all,

post #1;

I have a Delta 410 (PCI), bought as new-old stock about 2 year ago, it works extremely well for my purposes (mostly archiving vinyl and other analogue sources), except for SPDIF-in.

I'm been trying to use a Flying Calf ADC, and I get a lot of noise (crackling) which seems to be related to the display - any movement at all on screen, such as the cursor (mouse movement), or the level meters in an audio app. produce a corresponding incease in noise (along with the more persistent slight crackling).

Additionally there is also a rhythmic pulse of noise (every 2/3rds of a sec or so) in the resultingrecordings, as if the card isn't syncing up properly with the Calf's clock (at 44.1 or 48).

Disabling all graphics acceleration and underclocking the GFX card doesn't help, and unfortunately I have no other video-out on the PC.

The Calf has been tested in other setups and works perfectly (noise <-106dB).

The 410 is on it's own IRQ.

Check your BIOS to make sure any PCI power management is disabled.

With a PCI SCSI card and a PCI TV Tuner card, you could be experiencing a bandwidth issue on your PCI bus. Can you disable the SCSI and/or the TV tuner card and see if the problem goes away?

Hi JA - thanks for the reply.

I'll try your suggestions and report back.

Also, It occurs to me that I can change the PCI bus speed in the Asus's CMOS/BIOS config independendently of FSB, and given Asus boards are very OC friendly, I might try speeding it up slightly (I'm aware of possible issues some PCI cards, not least the the Delta, can have with out of spec bus speeds, so I won't overdo it).

cheers,
Mark.
