Hi

I have read the FAQ and Knowledge Base entries on IRQ/PCI troubleshooting, buy have not found a solution to my problem:

I have a Delta 66 PCI card that has been working fine for months on my WinXP PC. I have not added/removed any devices, but one day my audio just stopped working and I noticed that XP reported a "problem" with the Delta card in the Device Manager. For the life of me I can't think what had changed since the previous day - I vaguely remember confirming a Norton Protection Centre update, but I doubt whether that could have caused the card to stop working.

I then tried various remedies, including getting the latest Delta driver (Delta_V32_5.10.00.5069v3), moving the card to another PCI slot, uninstalling/unplugging/re-installing, etc., but all I succeeded in doing was to make XP not recognize the card *at all*. And that is the current state: I can't get XP to even *see* the card.

I disabled my Intel 965LT mobo's onboard audio when I installed the card for the first time, but I also now tried to disable some other devices, but to no avail. The card is now back in its original PCI slot, but still XP doesn't see it.

Any ideas?

System:
- Intel 965LT mobo, dual core 2.4GHz, 2G ram
- Windows XP Home SP3

This may be a hardware issue with the Delta card. Do any devices appear in the Windows Device Manager with a yellow question mark or exclamation point? If so, Windows may be stuck on those and is not even trying to locate and install the Delta card. If such devices appears, try and resolve those by updating the driver or uninstalling. Otherwise, do you have access to a second computer you can test the card in?

No other devices are reported to have a problem (no yellow exclamation marks). I have now swapped the card between all available PCI slots, and still no joy: the network card is now in the Delta's original slot and it (the network card) works fine. I have disabled/unplugged everything except the video card, keyboard and mouse, and still no joy.

I have reinstalled the Delta drivers and "forcibly" added the card using XP's "Add hardware", so now I'm back at the original state where XP just reports the card as: "The device cannot start (Code 10)" (yellow exclamation mark).

I haven't been able to test it on another PC yet.

Manually adding the hardware will not work; Windows must automatically identify the card and try to install the drivers. It sounds like the problem may be the Delta card itself since it was working and suddenly stopped. I would suggest testing in another computer to confirm this before sending the card in for repair.
