It seems that every now and then my midi soft synth sounds cut out, by that I mean I can still see activity on the inspector, but I don't hear anything. This can happen at any time, such as fast forwarding or reverse can cause this, or simply finishing an audio recording (wave), but in this case all I get is the audio and no midi. I'm on a P4 dual core (2gig chips) ,180gig HD , 2gigs ram , XP Home , and a 24/96 I/O card on a Cubase VST32 5.1 R1 . I know it's a bit dated program but works great for me. Can anyone give me any suggestions.............thanx in advance ............frethead

Are you using the Delta ASIO driver in Cubase? If you increase the buffer size from the M-Audio control panel before launching Cubase, does this have any effect on the problem?

Are you trying to send MIDI in/out of the Delta card when this happens? Or are you just playing MIDI files within Cubase through a VST instrument?

sorry for the delay JA, yes i'm using the delta asio driver in cubase, and this only seems to happen during playback or doing some process on something then all of a sudden I'll loose sound on most midi channels and the audio tracks play fine. Rebooting fixes everything but that can get to be annoying after a while. My IRQ is 17 all by itself. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..................thanx, dave (frethead)

It sounds like something may be conflicting with the Delta card. Do you have any other PCI cards installed? Have you tested the Delta card in a different PCI slot? Have you tried disabling devices such as your Ethernet, Modem, Wireless, and built-in audio?

Check out this PCI Troubleshooting Guide: http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=support.faq&ID=786ec8d75b137d3466b1e725531a59cc

Again sorry for the delay in getting back, single dad and all, but I don't have any other pci card installed, I do have all the other items mentioned in your last post, ethernet, modem, wireless and built in audio device going on so I'll disable them and see how that works. I also use a pretty decent laptop that can handle all of my internet needs so mayble I'll try using my main computer just for recording. I'll also check out those links you gave me and get back......................thanx again JA............dave
