How do i record a guitar and vocal at the same time on two seperate tracks

Hi all
Im using logic platinum 5.5 with m audio audiophile 2496 sound card in my PC. When i record using two tracks in logic with two mics in the mixer linking to my sound card, my vocals on one mic and playing a guitar with the other at the same time they record over each other. What im trying to say is how do you have both on seperate tracks in logic can anyone help me please?:confused:

Or do I need a professionally sound card to do that?

Pan the channels on the mixer hard left and right. That way, 1 mic will be coming out of the left output, and the other out of the right. In Logic, setup 2 mono tracks, one set for input 1 (aka left), and the other for input 2 (aka right).

No, you'd need a soundcard with 4 inputs to do 4 mic recording with each mic on their own track simultaneously.
