Is the Delta 44, or any Delta series really Zero latency as the specs say it is? I'm looking to replace the Fast Track usb Im using now do to the latency issues Im having. I just built my machine, Q9650, 4gb 1066, etc, so I know Its not my machine.

The direct monitoring of audio through the Delta control panel has no latency because it's processed by a DSP chip on the Delta card. Latency when monitoring through software or with MIDI will be dependent on the buffer size set for the sound card and how well your system is optimized.

Sorry I wasnt clearer on this. Yes I meant monitoring through my DAW as Im using VST amp sims and FX. Right now with the Fast Track USB ASIO drivers I can only get down to 128 samples which my daw says is about 6ms of latency and Im having a tuff time double tracking fast guitars and bass. So I guess what I should have said was will the Delta 44 cut that down in this situation? I would have figured my machines specs which I gave in my first post would be Fully capable of doing this. Is this what you mean by "how well your system is optimized" ???

The Delta drivers should allow you to set a buffer size of 64 samples which may give you a slight improvement. The Delta card also supports sample rates up to 96k; if you double the sample rate, your latency gets cut in half.

Windows often requires some tweaking in order to perform best for audio applications. There are lots of extra things running that can impact performance when recording. AudioForums has a resource center with some good Windows optimization guides: http://www.audioforums.com/resource_center.php
