Hi,
I bought a cheap used omni from a delta 66 studio (without the delta 66) to go with my old Quattro. The Quattro is for my mac, but I bought the Omni hoping to use it as a standalone mic pre for my pc setup.

Do I have to install all of the drivers on my pc and use it with the Quattro even though I won't be using the usb, or is there a way to use the Omni standalone?

If I do have to use it with the Quattro, do I even have to have the usb plugged in, or can I just direct monitor it out into my pc hardware with balanced audio cable?

I'm sure there is some way to use the Omni pres with zero latency to mix into my analog mixing setup right?

The Omni I/O can't be used stand alone; it must be used with the Quattro or Delta 66 PCI card. There are no drivers for the Omni I/O; only drivers for the devices it connects to.

so if I install the quattro drivers on xp I can configure the omni with the quattro to output zero latency from the mic pres?

Yes, but the inputs will be panned. Mic input 1 will only be played from the left speaker/headphone.

actually I wanted two balanced outs. I'll play around a bit with it tonight

putting an unbalanced cable to the first notch into the insert 1 is a direct unbalanced out from the mic pre 1. There is no harm in doing this right? I'd really like to use the nice pres with the omni standalone if I can.

You can do this, and there are some adapters out there designed for this application (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DOC106), but is is not technically ideal. To answer your question; there is no "harm" in doing this.

Hi, can anyone tell me how to get a spare power supply for the Omni i/o and a spare cable that joins the Omni i/o to a Quattro?
Cheers

John
