hello all,

i have been using my 2496 for about 5 months or so without any problems, untill now.

i am starting to hear a slight distortion in playback, any tipe of file, even with the windows sounds.

this is driving me crazy, as i cant get a true sound from my card.

my setup was vista home basic, then i changed to xp. i started hearing the sounds in vista first, but i wanted to go to xp for better production, and the distortion is still there.

i have tried several of the drivers, updated my system and all the usual stuff.

i also have an x-station, when i use the sound card that is built into the x-station, i cant hear the distortion, it plays fine.

i hope i have explained myself properly!!!

i have also done all the checks for conflicting things in device manager and nothing to report there.

is my card goosed? or will i hear the normal fantastic sound that i used to hear again!!!

please help

james

What version of XP and Service Pack are you running? Have you tested the card in different PCI slots? Have you tried disabling any devices that may be conflicting (Ethernet, modem, wireless, and built-in audio)?

If you've re-installed the OS, resources may have been reassigned and there may be a conflict between the Delta card and another device that wasn't there before. Do you hear the noise at all times? Or only when playing back?

Do you have any other PCI cards installed? Try temporarily disabling your Ethernet and Wireless controllers and see if the noise persists.

If you could test the card in a different computer, it would help identify whether the problem is the PCI card itself or not.

i have checked that nothing is conflicting, and i hear the problem all the time, when listening to music, windows sounds, baisically, every sound that comes out of the computer has this fault.

before i had xp installed, i had vista installed, it worked fine, then the problem started one day.

i downgraded to xp because it is better for producing, but the problem never went away.

i have resorted to using my x-station as my sound card and synth, but would rather use the m-audio card.

Do you have any other PCI cards installed?

Do you have all the latest driver and chipset updates for your motherboard?

At this point, I would suggest testing the card in a different computer to see if the card is the problem.
