Delta 1010LT no sound on left channel - help mods and others please

After moving house I have rejigged my studio. After trying everything I have not been able to get sound to come out of the left front (channel 1) of my surround set up.
After a lot of analysing I have established that the sound is simply not coming out from the card although outputs show in the driver control panel window under channel 1/2.
My system is PC windows 7, 64 bit. I have tried various applications and all are the same - activity in the delta control panel but no sound. I have tried swapping wires and it has established that the wiring is fine (when connected to another channel). I have the latest drivers.

Is this hardware?

All was working before.
Any help please, otherwise the sound card goes back under the lifetime gauruntee.

Try taking the breakout cable off, and then reseating it, sometimes this can fix issues.

if that doesn't help, try swapping the PCI card your Delta 1010LT is in. This is also known to sometimes help.

If that doesn't help, take the card out of your computer, and clean it with a soft bristle toothbrush. Sometimes dust connects around contacts and can cause a short which sometimes can create problems just like what you're describing.

How old is the card?

Thanks for the swift reply. I have done the first two ont he list - cleaning the contact points and changing the slots. I will do the toothbrush thing when I get a chance. The pins seem in good order too.

The card is reasonably old, I cant quite remember.. I was wondering why you asked?

OK so I have now tried cleaning the card - no luck.

There have been many users reporting issues like you describe with Delta 1010LT cards.

Do you have another computer you're able to test the card in to see if there is some strange incompatibility with newer motherboards?

I do , but this computer was running this card before - though I did update driver. Is it worth reinstalling the VIsta driver?

I am presently thinking this is hardware and the card shoulod go back to digital village

You were using the Vista driver with Win 7?

I know this is possible, but there there is a very well known shutdown issue related to this, with no solid fix (there are workarounds, but not permanent fixes).

Yes i was using this, with a batch file for shutdown - it worked. Never any channel issues. Do you think the card needs to go back now, or is this software?

Maybe it's a big question, but if you go back to the previous drivers, do all the channels work again?

This would basically answer whether it is hardware or drivers.

My only other suggestion would be to remove the card from your computer for 4-6 hours, and then place it back in, and see if anything changes.

That would give the card and opportunity to drain it's capacitors in case there was just some weird electrical problem going on. Usually if that works, the problem does not persist.
