I've replaced capacitors on 2 of my 3 Delta 1010 rack units. The units will get warm to the touch on the power input side, that's completely normal.
What you should do is if you have a multi-meter, double check the power source that the power adapter is plugged into, and make sure it is between 110 and 120V, and not higher or lower, and also check to make sure the power adapter itself is outputting 9V steadily, and not higher or lower.
If anything is too different from what it should be, that could be a source of your problems. I've never had to put higher rated caps in any electronics, so I'm wary of any long-term effects it may/may not end up having.
