Question M-Audio AV 40 getting a bit hot?

Hi, I'm new here and I don't know if this is the right area to post my question, but here goes:
Not long ago I purchased a pair of AV 40's from my local retailer. I'm very pleased with them, they sound awesome, even on my old onboard soundcard. However, after while I noticed that the left speaker, I presume that that's the speaker which contains the amplifier, is getting rather hot, almost finger-burning hot. Is this normal? I'm not usuing them at high volume, I usually keep them at 20-25% volume so I don't think that they are over used so to speak. Is there a problem with them or this is their normal behaviour?
    Best regards

While it's normal for powered speakers to get hot, burning hot does not sound normal.
