M-Audio have yet to release Windows 8 drivers for any of their audio interfaces, however the Windows 7 driver should work as a stop gap for the time being. Microsoft unfortunately have removed the "legacy firewire" driver from Windows 8. If you experience pops/clicks/dropouts etc. you might have to get that driver from a Win7 machine.

To do so (at your own risk), find a Win7 machine that is the same architecture as the version of Win8 (x86 or x64). Copy these files from the Win7 PC:

c:\windows\inf\1394.inf
c:\windows\inf\1394.pnf
c:\windows\system32\drivers\1394bus.sys
c:\windows\system32\drivers\1394ohci.sys
c:\windows\system32\drivers\ohci1394.sys

To a folder on your Win8 PC (recommend C:\Drivers\LegacyFW).

Reboot with driver signing disabled:http://www.windows7hacker.com/index.p...

Open Device Manager, find your firewire adapter (not your M-Audio interface) and update the driver from the folder that you saved the files (C:\Drivers\LegacyFW), reboot.

AGAIN, DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
