    Default Windows 7 Build 7048-7057-7067 Shutdown/Restart FIX

As many know there is a problem shutting down or restarting W7 Build 7048,7057,7067(and most likely newer builds) after installing Delta drivers.

I don't think M-Audio will release new drivers anytime soon to fix the problem and I doubt Microsoft will bother to do anything.

So here is a simple fix I came up with:

    1) Create a .bat file (create txt file and change extention to .bat) or you can download file from link below unzip file to main drive ie: "C:\Audio Stop" and skip to step 4:http://www.mediafire.com/file/j51yj2...dio%20Stop.zip

    2) Right Click on newly created .bat file >"edit" and enter following info:

    net stop "Audiosrv"
    net stop "AudioEndpointBuilder"

    3) Save file as "Audio stop"(or whatever you want) to your main drive ie: C:\Audio stop

    4) Open "run" from start menu and enter "gpedit.msc" (without quotes) and hit "OK"

    5) Now navigate from right pain of window "User Configuration" > "Windows Settings" > "Scripts (Logon/Logoff)" > "Logoff"

    6) From window that opens from clicking "Logoff" Click "Add" then browse to where you saved "Audio Stop.bat" earlier and double click on it

    7) Hit "Apply" and close.

    You are done

Window7 will now Automatically stop the Audio services when Shutting Down or Restarting allowing system to complete the process.

Now we can enjoy W7 again

Will this help at all with Windows XP SP3? All of a sudden I cannot get Windows to Shut down or Standby properly while my Audiophile 192 PCI card is active (it worked find for 8 months). It just hangs there at the "Windows is shutting down" screen.

    Great workaround!

Though I would advise to add the script to the shutdown scripts instead of the logoff scripts. Especially systems with multiple users accounts might get into trouble if the audio service gets terminated after a user session ends and another user logs in. Using the batch file as a shutdown script solves this issue.

Nice job. I have experienced this exact same issue with builds 7068, 7077, and now 7100 as well.

The service that is the actual cause, is the Windows Audio Endpoint Builder. As mentioned above, stopping the Audio processes will allow a successful reboot.

Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this service to stay in a hung state?

The shutdown scripting was my work-around as well, but it's defniitely not a fix.

The batch file worked for me too. Thanks!

I just installed Windows 7 RC build 7100 today and started getting the shutdown hang. The batch file fixed this, but I hope that M-Audio writes the drivers for Windows 7 before SP1 arrives.

    Update:

I moved the batch file from User Configuration to Computer Configuration. As was pointed out already, a subsequent user after log off of first user would have no audio. Moving the script fixed this.
