This has been sending me crazy for days, I have a new HP dv7 2110sa and ive just bought a profire 2626 for it.
Can i get it working properly, no. My firewire phonic desk works absolutly fine with the same laptop. (using legacy 1394 driver), the profire works fine on other computers. Ive tried the onboard firewire, ive bought 2 external express cards (ti chipset) the mixer software works fine, just no sound at all via asio or windows. ive tried any hint or idea I have found on these forums, disabled what I can, paid for extra for two cards i dont need. when I press test in the sound aplet in control panel the green meter just goesup and sticks there with no sound coming out. Ive tried vista 64 bit and windows 7 RC 32 and 64. laptop shipped with vista 64 with free upgrade to windows 7 64 Not impressed at all. I dont buy the fact that its fully the laptops fault and not made for music cause my 1394a phonic helix board desk works fine, no glitches even using the vista 64 driver! ive also got an older laptop that has just as much stuff going on that works even with the built in firewire. |

What audio applications are you using? Can you make sure the power options are set to best performance? Can you post a screenshot of the IRQ list for this computer?
Which driver version are you using? |

hi
Texas instruments 1394 is on irq 16, the only other device sharing 16 is the pci bridge needed for the express port to function. have got a screen shot but cant see an image upload facility in this post? Ive just done another fresh build with no luck. have tried drivers for 7 both versions and the vista 64 ones ending in 77. have tried with both standard firewire drivers and also the legacy ones available in windows 7. which ones do you recommend native or legacy for your products? after just doing a rebuild (again) the first thing i put back on was the audio drivers so I know there is no other software getting in the way. although I still get no sound. some times when I open an application that tries to use sound the blue light on the 2626 starts flashing. I really would like to get this unit working as its quite a journey to take it back! i've now sold my old phonic desk (which is why i bought this) but if you want a copy of the drivers to check out if it would help to see how they worked let me know. That would stream 16 mic inputs on seperate channels and return 2 at the same time on this same laptop so I know it is up to it. Much thanks Russ Last edited by sirrusty; 11-02-2009 at 05:07 PM. |

Cubase 4 (will be upgraded to 5 as soon as I get this working!) is my main application.
mostly then I just use VSTs within that. but even windows apps wont play yet so i havnt installed cubase on this latest rebuild until I can at least play the test tone in control panel! media player doesnt throw an error but the transport indicator doesnt move. cubase can see all the inputs etc but hears no sound. mixer (m-audio mixer, not cubase) does work, if i up a fader with an instrument I hear the direct monitoring, master fader works, all the settings are the same as my wifes 32bit vista laptop that this device works on. power settings all high power, etc, Cheers |
