Iv just had to complety restore my computer due to a virus and im now having problems installing the Audiophile 2496 soundcard. I kept getting the code 10 error message when trying to install the drivers. i turned my computer off for the night and turned it on in the morning and the sound card was working fine.
After i had finished what i was doin i turned the computer off. when i went back on my computer after turning it off it went back to the 1st problem i was having. saying the code 10 error?? Any idea on why it worked after loads of attempts and then when it was working it stopped again??? |

Hi guys
Iv recently had to wipe my computer due to a bad virus and after re-installing everythin my Audiophile 2496 sound card will not work. I spent all day and night trying to sort this but it keeps throwing up Code 10 error. After giving up on it i turned my computer off and went to bed. Next morning turned my computer on and for some wierd reason it was working?? After then turning my computer off again and the next day going back onto my computer it had lost the sound card and now im back with the same problem. I have done the Run>msinfo32 and searched for my m-audio sound card and it has shown up like this Name SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio Manufacturer Analog Devices, Inc. How did you restore your computer? Did you format and re-install everything? Have you tested the card in different PCI slots?

That's very strange. To test a different PCI slot, shut down the computer and physically move the Delta PCI card to a different PCI slot.
If the problem persists, do you have access to a different computer, or a second hard drive or partition you could do a clean install of the OS on, to test the Audiophile?

Code 10 is usually caused by a severe IRQ/resource conflict, or a defective device. If you get a code 10 on a second computer, the problem is likely the sound card, but if it works on the other computer, something may still be corrupt on the other system. In which case you may want to back up all of your data, format the HD, and do a clean install of the OS and system drivers.
