While you are at it can't you fix the issue with the later XP SP2 and 3 versions not having the ability in the software to choose input and output levels (+4, -4, -10) ?
I have to roll back all the way back to 5057, to the "regular" XP driver from 2006, to get a version where you don't loose that feature. I use the device for feeding digital signals from radio equipment into software for rx/tx and the ability to select input and output level of the device was really great. I asked why it went away in version 5065 last February and never got an answer... at least not one that made any sense to me at all. Last edited by mjmelland; 06-29-2008 at 06:28 PM. |

I noted that too - why remove capabilities?

Another feature gone missing is the multiple cards sync options.
I would appreciate a detailed changelog history along with every new release with a quick note telling why certain features are introduced or removed. That way users would know prior to installing an update what to expect. Losing level and multicard options is not a minor inconvenience, it's a potential showstopper. I would appreciate a comment from M-Audio on this subject. |

I am not seeing a 2006 version of 5057 on the M-Audio website. All I see is 5052v3 from 6/22/2006 under Windows XP. There is a 5057v3 dated 4/5/2007. Which of these are you referring to, or is there an actual 2006 version of the 5057 (a version 1 or 2) which isn't up on the site? I am also interested in choosing input levels and multicard use. Except in my case I use Windows Vista. As far as I know, the first Vista version doubled as an XP version. It certainly can be confusing!

I've got 2x 1010lts, running driver 5.10.0.5069 on XP Pro SP3 and i get the option on the the Input tab to choose between +4dB, Con & -10dB (Little check boxes under the faders).
Is this what you're looking for?

And where are the variable output levels?

The new driver has faders on the output tab to adjust the level. See this FAQ.

Didn't the 5052V3 and 5057v3 driver have the ability to set both input AND output levels, with the 3 (+4, Con and -10) checkboxes AND little faders? You said the Delta 1010LT card's input levels cannot be trimmed. So this means the current drivers have lost the continuous input level adjustment that the old drivers had??? If that's the case, that's nuts. I am still running a 3 year old driver that's not all that stable because it's better than any of the newer ones. Would you kindly restore this oft-requested feature, and tell us when you might release a post 5069 driver that's solid, no blue screens, works with Prostools-M, etc?

YES they DO have sliders for the inputs, but they are just hidden, they are like invisible but they are there for sure. Just try clicking on some area of the slider bar while recording and you will notice that the volume changes. But this only acts as a kind of limiter. Now I am recording drums and I have a very hot signal from input 1/2 (direct inputs) and I just can't find a solution to get an moderate input volume. At higher volumes, when the drummer hits his drums hard, the sound clips. I get a saturated sound. Even if I slide down the invisible input volume I get a lower DB signal but equally saturated. Is there any solution for this other than set the 1/2 inputs to line level and go through and external mixer?

I noticed this too, I have had the 1010LT for a few years but never needed inputs 1-2. Tried to use them for the first time last night as a mic input. Noticed that:
1. there is no input level control. The +4 / 0 / -10db option is pretty useless 2. noticed that there seems to be a "hidden" level control that you can click on to adjust the level going into the card 3. despite the adjustments to this "hidden" slider, the input signal was way too hot, clipping constantly, totally distorted and useless. This is just with a standard Shure SM58 plugged into this input. M-Audio people, is there any way for the XLR inputs 1-2 to actually be used as decent mic level inputs? If so please share... for a company that prides itself on audio fidelity these inputs seem to be useless as mic preamps, unless I'm doing something wrong. Other than that the card is great, the direct hardware monitoring and control panel are pretty useful and the quality seems decent going in on the line inputs. |
