Default Ubuntu 8.04 and Pulse Audio problem

Hello everybody
I've posted about this in the Ubuntu Forums but I didn't find a solution, so i guessed that maybe someone here might have something in mind. The problem is that I have no sound at all in Hardy Heron, and that's because of this whole new Pulse Audio thing. The only solution so far would be to disable Pulse Audio and leave Alsa alone, but that results in some other problems with certain programs, like Audacity. Has anyone got Pulse Audio to work with his 2496?

I work with Ubuntu, but for music I use 64studio.com It's Debian Etch based, but lags a bit on being the bleeding edge stuff. I love PCs and I love Linux, but when I want to make music, I just want it to work. I keep other machines to tweak and poke around on.

I use it with a Delta 66 with no problems. 64studio still uses Alsa.
