Default Delta 44 / MacOS9 (It wasn't broke, so I shouldn't have fixed it!)

I've had a Delta 44 on my G4 Mac, running OS9 for maybe six years. It took me a bit of time to get it all configured correctly, but it was working pretty well. Every now and then the Mac would crash, but there was no proof it was the Delta 44's fault, or the drivers. (And the Mac would still crash when I de-installed the Delta 44.)

Anyway, a couple months ago, I bought an Axiom-49. So I was looking around the M-Audio site, and noticed Delta 44 support. I'd forgotten M-Audio was even the manufacturer! So I look at the downloads page and note new drivers for the Delta 44. Being a sucker for any sort of free upgrades, I downloaded them.

So I installed them, and everything stopped working. Now, I'm guessing this isn't really the new drivers' fault, but just my losing the configuration settings that worked.

I bring this up not as a request for support (tho I welcome any suggestions from fellow OS9-ers concerning config options I may have missed) but as another reminder: If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Thanks. I'll keep your checklist handy next time I try to get it working. (I do most of my stuff on my newer machines, so it'll be a while before I fire up the G4 again.)
