Exclamation Driver Problems with audiophile 192

i have had this card 4 about a month and ever since i installed it i have been getting stop errors. my pc will cut off and restart randomly when i click something. windows tells me its the driver and i have tried all 4 drivers available on this site. with 2 of the drivers i couldnt even get the pc 2 boot and had 2 go back 2 the last known good configuration and try another driver. the other drivers gave me the same problem.

another problem i got is after all this installing and uninstalling i might have messed something up because when my pc starts i have 2 delta icons in my toolbar but only 1 actually works. apparently when i switched drivers i didnt remove everything from the previous installation. the icon just sits there and the only way 2 get rid of it is by closing it in task manager.

has anyone had a problem like this with the 192? im using an e-machines pc running windows xp sp2. the only thing i can think 2 try next is 2 completely disable the stock sound card. hopefully someone can help me out with this.

Please add your system specs to your signature as outlined in this thread. This will provide vital information for troubleshooting your issue.

Have you tried different PCI slots? I recommend uninstalling the driver, rebooting w/o the 192, installing the driver and trying a different PCI slot - repeat for all PCI slots in the system.

Are there any other PCI cards in the system? If so, I recommend removing them until you've exhausted all troubleshooting.

FYI: e-machines aren't ideal audio systems. It doesn't mean you can't get it to work, but you will most likely have to cover all of the recommended optimization suggestions found here.

thanks, i'll get around 2 trying the other 2 pci slots if it shuts down again. I disabled the old card in the bios so i'll have 2 wait & see what happens. as far as the extra icon does anyone have a solution 4 that? i have tried uninstalling and deleting everything 2 do with the card but the icon wont go away even when i restart with the card removed.

btw i also have an axiom 49 keyboard installed tho i rarely use it

you may have to edit your "run" or "runonce"section of the registry to get rid of the icon. that is not a trivial task because it is risky, but it's a simple task. I dont remember offhand how to do it tho. Maybe someone else knows? Or knows a free utility that edits that section?

when you install the drivers, make sure that you install the drivers first without the card physically installed. the card goes in last, and then restart the computer
