A couple weeks ago I installed the latest Vista drivers for my Delta Audiophile 2496. At the time the drivers were V32_5.10.00.5069v2
Everything worked fine that day. But the next day I lost all windows sounds, any type of mp3 playback or media playback along with windows sounds. But the linein was still working. Then a few days later I lost ALL sound and the all tabs on the Delta Control Panel were blank??? I had no volume sliders, mute buttons, nothing. With the exception of the about tab. I've been busy this week so just now got to trying to uninstall the driver and install the old one or see if there were fixes from m-audio. I looked today and there was a different version of the driver to download. V32_5.10.00.5069v3 So I uninstalled the old version and installed this latest version. Now I have a strange mix of problems. LineIn sound works but I don't have any windows sounds again. The Input tab has no controls and only lists "1/2 in" and "spdif in" but I can't control anything about these inputs. "1/2 out" is set to mixer the version on the about tab says 5069 I'm running Vista Ultimate SP1 anyone have any idea what's going on? Or should I just try and download the older version of the driver and go back to that? thanks mike |

Our drivers haven't been qualified for SP1 yet. You're not supposed to be able to control anything on the input tab with the 24/96. Did you remove the PCI card when updating the drivers?
If you go into the Windows Control Panel>Sounds>Audio Tab, is the Delta selected as the system default output?

Control Panel/Sounds? Control Panel/Sounds/Audio Tab? maybe a different version of Windows than I'm running? Vista Ultimate SP1 I see Control Panel/Sound But that only has 3 tabs, Playback, Recording and Sounds On the Playback tab I see the following S/PDIF Line 1/2 (set to defaul) Speakers (SoundMAX) SPDIF interface (SoundMAX) maybe this is the problem? thanks mike |

My mistake, Playback tab is what I meant, I was going from memory, or lack of memory.
I just tested on Vista (no service pack) and had no problems hearing Windows Sounds through the Audiophile 24/96 with Line 1/2 selected as the default. Are the sw 1/2 rtn faders turned up on the mixer tab of the M-Audio control panel? If you set the 1/2 output to sw rtn, do they Windows Sounds play? If you go to the Sounds tab of the Windows Control panel, do you see levels in the M-Audio mixer when auditioning (testing) the sounds? Since you mention everything was fine the first day and the problem didn't occur til later, I'll test again tomorrow to see if anything has changed and report back.

I tested again and Windows Sounds & audio playback are still functioning normally.
