Is it possible to send 2 tracks at the same time from my Behringer 6 channel mixer through my 2496 sound card & record them as 2 separate tracks on Adobe Audition. Put simply (think karaoke) I wish play & record a backing track from 1 mixer channel & at the same time apply the vocal from a 2nd mixer channel. The result is the sound card combines the 2 channels & records it on Audition as one track. Is there any way I can send them to different tracks. I do have a spare 2496 card, could I install it & get Audition to accept 2 sound cards on separate tracks.

This should be possible. One way would be to pan the backing track hard left, and the vocal hard right. If you connect the master output of the mixer (L & R) to the RCA line inputs of the 24/96, you should be able to record 2 separate mono tracks in Audition. The left channel being the backing track, and the right the vocal. I'm not familiar with Adobe Audition, but we have this FAQ which shows how to enable mono inputs in Cool Edit Pro (which should be very similar).

Hi! & Thanks. Adobe have taken over Cool Edit (same thing new name) & I was looking to keep my backing track in stereo (Track1)& using Multitrack on Audition/Cool Edit put vocals on a separate track (track2) . I know I can lay down a backing track (track1) & then add vocals (track2) but to do both at once is what I'm trying to achieve. Many Thanks so far. Wilba

If Audition will allow you to use a second AP 24/96, that would allow you to record the backing track in stereo. I don't know if it will, but it's definitely worth a shot! With the first card installed, you should be able to shut down and install the second and it should be able to load the drivers automatically without reinstalling anything.
You need a 75ohm coaxial (RCA) digital cable (Like this one) to sync the 2 cards. In the Delta Control Panel, you leave the first card's clock source as the Internal Xtal, and for the second you would select the S/PDIF input; check out this FAQ.

Many thanks. Just the help I was looking for. I'll give it a go over the weekend & let you know my success or otherwise, For the purpose of tryout / test, can I get away with standard RCA cable as opposed to digital? Regards Wilba
