I'm interested in adding an external word clock, namely Black Lion Audio's Micro clock, to my delta 1010. They stated that the BNC wc input on some delta 1010's don't work and that I should test it before I purchase a micro clock. Can anyone shed any light on this? Why would
the wc in/out work on some but not others? And, how can I test it?

There is a known issuer where the 1010 won't sync via BNC Word Clock directly from the Apogee Big Ben. I know there was a problem with the 5057v3 driver and word clock sync, but that has been fixed in the newer 5069 driver.
Do you have another device with a BNC Word Clock output you can connect to the 1010? That's the only want to test it. If you look at the PCI Card, what "Rev" is it (e.g Rev E)?

mmm.... I have a focusrite voicemaster pro that has BNC wc in/out,so that sorts that. I'm not sure what rev the board is I never thought to look. What I can tell you though is the unit was packaged some time in 2007,because (I think the driver cd) had that date on it. I didn't bother with the installation cd, I used the latest driver for xp service pack 2. And thanks fofr your answer.....

Ok I just cheched, the driver I installed is the 5057 v3 you said had the issue. The 6069 driver is sp3. So, should I update to sp3 and install 6069?

I would suggest first testing with the driver you have installed; the issue I had was with the 1010lt and I don't know for sure if it affected the 1010 w/ the breakout box or not. If it it doesn't detect the sample rate on your Focusrite, update to the latest 5069 driver; you don't need to update to SP3, this driver also works on SP2.

Just an additional question from me, because it belongs to this topic. On several reasons Iam searching for an simple sound interface which is able to record a stereo SPDIF digital signal syncing to a main wordclock generator. I found the 1010 and it seems perfect, but by reading the manual and this topic there are some questions left:
- I saw that there is a remark, that the digital input is disabled, when sync signal is set to wordclock, whats about that ??? thought wordclock is intended to give the sync signal especially for digital in- and outputs ??? (I know it will work, if sync is set to SPDIF input because there is a sync signal within the SPDIF, but if I have this very expensive masterclock with low jitter and even I want to use it for that reason) - I read about general problems about wordclock sync above and there is the hint to the actual drivers, so does this mean older drivers (speially for Win98SE) won´t work no way with that feature in general ? Thanks in advance. |

MrAudio, do you own a Delta 1010 yet? Are you running Windows 98SE? The current Delta 1010's are only compatible as far back as Windows XP SP2.
What sample rate are you going to be using? The Delta 1010 will not sync to word clock above 48k. The Delta 1010 should receive a S/PDIF signal while sync'd to word clock.

Hi, I got response from mail support too and I think my questions are answered. Iam still searching for a sound card, but there seems to be a newer hardware layout which could not share the SPDIF/Wordclock sync. And yes Iam still running on Win98SE (never touch a working system ;-) )...so it seems useless for me at all...
Thanks anyway... |
